Functions of the cell

The objectives behind creation of Canteen and Hygiene maintenance cell are

  • To implement measures to sensitize the students on ill effects of junk food.
  • To provide good nutrition, safe and hygienic food in college campus.
  • To assist college canteens to provide food consistent with the Indian dietary guidelines.
  • To provide nutrition information and resources to college canteen.
  • To provide refreshment facilities to college staff, volunteers and college students.

Facilities of the cell

  • To create awareness about the health status of the members of the staff and students in the campus.
  • To provide counseling for the various health problems of the respondents by a team of doctors.
  • To promote awareness about food safety.

Role of the coordinator

  • The coordinator is aware of the risks involved in this cell.
  • The coordinator follows all regulations concerning infection control and protective measures.
  • Responsible for all hygiene and sanitation issues linked to the outbreak intervention.
  • Trains and educates staff of the college to maintain proper hygiene and on other health related issues.
  • Takes every opportunity to inform and sensitise the students.
  • Coordinates with the college Director to improve facilities

Role of faculty member

  • Attends and participates actively in weekly staff meeting.
  • Attends and participates actively in the Task Force meetings.
  • Advises other staff members on general health care issues.
  • Monitors and orders stocks of cleaning and disinfection material.

Role of the student member

  • To help faculty members in Programming to design, manage and evaluate interventions.
  • To allow for a periodic, objective look at overall programme.
  • To track the efficiency and effectiveness of the programme.
  • To fallow up and implement the instruction given by the coordinator and faculty member of the committee.
